
Annual eye examinations for patients diagnosed with diabetes, along with all Saskatchewan children under the age of 18, are covered by Saskatchewan Health.
An annual eye exam is covered for:
- All individuals under 18 years of age
- All individuals who have a confirmed diagnosis of type I or type II diabetes
Urgent appointments are covered anytime for:
- Ocular emergencies e.g. injury to eyes, foreign body in eye, eye inection, etc., including necessary follow-ups.
You must present a valid Saskatchewan Health Services Card to be eligible.
Eyewear and contact lenses are not a benefit of the Saskatchewan provincial health program, but you may be covered by private insurance, student insurance, or other federal or provincial social services programs.
