Professional Fees

A combination of your private insurance (including U of C student insurance) or provincial health plan may cover some or all of these professional fees.
Student Exams
  • Student exam $105

Adult Exams
  • Adult exam $125
  • Adult exam w/contacts $145
Youth & Seniors
  • Infant/Toddler (0-3) – Covered*
  • Youth (4-18) – $50 co-pay*
  • Senior (65+) – $50 co-pay*
  • *With Alberta Health Coverage; see detailed note below
Contact Lens Fitting
  • Starts at $75 (without exam, with an outside prescription)
  • First time wearers must complete training (add $40)
  • Provincially insured exams +$30 for CL fit/check
Eye Health Concerns
  • Most eye health concerns are covered in full by Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan
  • $75 without Alberta Health coverage, includes 1 follow-up if needed

Important Notes About Alberta Health Covered Exams

* Infant and Toddler exams are fully covered by Alberta Health with a valid Alberta Health Care Card. Youth and Senior exams are partially covered, with a $50 co-pay.

Additional $20 charge applies to Alberta Health insured eye exams for standard contact lens wearers (additional for specialty/multifocal). Visits are charged as adult exams when not covered by Alberta Health.
